Staff

The Saint Louis Volleyball Camps coaching staff is comprised primarily of the Saint Louis University Volleyball coaching staff and current Billiken volleyball players. Former players, as well as players from other colleges and other college, club, and high school coaches may also serve on the camp staff.


Kent Miller, Head Coachvb2

Coach Miller was named Head Coach of Saint Louis University in April 2011. In 2016, Miller oversaw one of the best single-season performances in NCAA history. Senior outside hitter Danielle Rygelski was names an All-American and set an NCAA record with 715 kills (most in the 25-point rally scoring era).  

Prior to SLU, Miller spent 2 seasons with the Fighting Illini, posting a 51-15  record and reaching 2 consecutive NCAA Tournament Sweet 16s. He was the team's recruiting coordinator and helped Illinois sign two recruiting classes ranked in the top 10. Miller played a significant role in the Illini reaching a No. 3 national ranking, and he coached four AVCA All-Americans, one Academic All-American and six All-Big Ten selections during his tenure.

 Miller has compiled over 2 decades of coaching experience, including 12 as head coach at Toledo, and 10 years of work with the USA Women's National Team. With the USA Women's Olympic Team, he was an assistant on the 1992 Barcelona Olympic team that won the bronze medal, and the 1995 World Grand Prix squad that won the gold medal. Miller also served on the 1990 World Championship team that earned bronze.
 
Prior to his Olympic tenure, Miller served 4 years as an assistant for the Oregon State women's team and helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament, and he worked one season as an assistant coach at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He also was head coach of the San Diego Spikers, winning NVA league titles in 1994 and 1995.


Matt Huskey, Assistant Coach

Matt Huskey joined the staff at Saint Louis University prior to the 2017 season. Previously, Huskey spent 2 seasons as an assistant coach at University of Central Arkansas. He served as recruiting coordinator and led all team training in practice. Huskey has also served as an assistant coach at Bradley University and University of Georgia.
 
While attending college at Missouri, Huskey helped lead the Mizzou men's club team to the 2006 national championship. He graduated in 2008 with a degree in business administration. A native of St. Louis, Huskey was the starting libero as a junior on Saint Louis University High's state championship team. 

 


Maureen Nesbit, Assistant Coach

Nesbit joined the Billiken coaching staff prior to the 2017 season as well. She came to the Billikens from Missouri S&T where she assisted in all on-court training for the Miners. She led the team efforts in scouting and also has experience in strength and conditioning, game planning and recruiting. Prior to S&T, Nesbit was a graduate assistant coach at Lindenwood-Belleville.

Nesbit played both her prep and collegiate careers in the St. Louis area. In college, she starred at McKendree University for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Despite only two seasons at McKendree, Nesbit tallied 598 kills and 764 digs in her career. In high school, she was a standout at Althoff Catholic in Belleville, Ill.
