Camp Staff

The Saint Louis Volleyball Camps coaching staff is comprised primarily of the Saint Louis University Volleyball coaching staff and current Billiken volleyball players.  Former players, as well as players from other colleges and other college, club, and high school coaches may also serve on the camp staff.

Kent Miller, Head Coach
 
Coach Miller was named Head Coach of Saint Louis University in April 2011. SLU finished the 2014 season with a record of 21-10, the Billikens’ best record since 2009. The impressive season included wins over Purdue and Missouri. For the second year in a row, one of Miller's freshmen was named the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball Rookie of the Year. It is the first time a team has won back-to-back A-10 Rookie of the Year honors since the 1998-99 seasons.

 

Prior to SLU, Miller spent 2 seasons with the Fighting Illini, posting a 51-15  record and reaching 2 consecutive NCAA Tournament Sweet 16s. He was the team's recruiting coordinator and helped Illinois sign two recruiting classes ranked in the top 10. Miller played a significant role in the Illini reaching a No. 3 national ranking, and he coached four AVCA All-Americans, one Academic All-American and six All-Big Ten selections during his tenure.

 

Miller has compiled over 2 decades of coaching experience, including 12 as head coach at Toledo, and 10 years of work with the USA Women's National Team. With the USA Women's Olympic Team, he was an assistant on the 1992 Barcelona Olympic team that won the bronze medal, and the 1995 World Grand Prix squad that won the gold medal. Miller also served on the 1990 World Championship team that earned bronze.

 

Prior to his Olympic tenure, Miller served 4 years as an assistant for the Oregon State women's team and helped the team reach the NCAA Tournament, and he worked one season as an assistant coach at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He also was head coach of the San Diego Spikers, winning NVA league titles in 1994 and 1995.



Ben Spurlock 










Ben Spurlock, Assistant Coach
Ben Spurlock became an assistant coach at Saint Louis University in 2011. Previously, Spurlock spent 2 seasons as an assistant coach at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. He served as recruiting coordinator and supervised the program's academic progress. Spurlock has also served as an assistant coach for the Eden Volleyball Club in Eden, N.Y., and has worked camps at Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.

 

As a four-year player at Ohio State, Spurlock helped the Buckeyes reach the national semifinals in 2005, 2008 and 2009. He helped OSU claim 3 regular-season MIVA titles and 3 conference tournament championships. As a junior, Spurlock was a second-team All-Conference selection. In his final campaign, he ranked second on the team with a .429 hitting percentage and totaled 126 kills for the No. 10-ranked Buckeyes.

Alli Arbogast, Assistant Coach

Arbogast joined the Billiken coaching staff in March of 2014. She came to the Billikens from Armstrong Atlantic. Arbogast served as Armstrong Atlantic's assistant coach from 2011-13. She helped the Pirates capture the Peach Belt Conference championship in each of her three seasons. Arbogast coached eight All-Americans, 12 All-Region selections and 14 All-Conference honorees. 

Prior to Armstrong Atlantic, Arbogast played professional volleyball for Societa Sportiva Cuore in Reggio Calabria, Italy. She was the team’s starting middle blocker, earning team MVP accolades.

At South Florida, Arbogast was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulls from 2006-09. She was a first-team All-Big East Conference selection and an AVCA All-Northeast Region performer as a senior. Arbogast is fourth on USF’s all-time blocks list with 430 total blocks. She is second on the block assists list with 380. In her senior season, Arbogast averaged 1.49 blocks per set, leading the Big East and ranking in the top 10 in the NCAA.
